Introduction...
Hi Julian,
I hope your well I've just been catching up with some early Carp Cast episodes on Spotify and I heard your interview on episode 10 where you were talking about writing
I've been writing my own book for a while now and I'm starting to think about what to actually do with it when it's finished?
it's a book about my fishing from day one up until the present day, I see this book as a lighthearted introduction to what fishing can bring to life, for those new to the sport or thinking about getting into it?
Question... Paul Lonsdale
Where do you start when writing articles for magazines or blogs?, I've not done any yet but I'd like to give it a go as I love the written word and the process of writing
do you write an article and submit it to the magazines from scratch or do the magazines set you a subject?
Answer... Julian Cundiff
The world has really changed in the last ten years or so and none more so than in publications
recently we have lost Crafty Carper, Carp Talk and Advanced Carp Fishing, Carp Fisher is not going now so that's four publications you are down on
in order to survive magazines need adverts which means some have to include the company's leading or even less leading lights so theirs even less chance for new writers to get into print, as a new unproven writer it's very rare unless you have the right connections?
my advice build a profile on social media so people know who you are, ensure you build a positive profile
I would say give it a minimum of twelve months regularly displaying carp and interesting details about fishing to develop your profile
then contact online publications to see if they are interested?
I wish you the best of luck... keep in touch Julian Cundiff
