12/1/2018

November 24th and 25th and Julian headed once again to Sandown Park for yet another Carp Society Winter Show

the Nash stand was his home for the weekend were he greeted and met with many anglers, social media followers and friends within the trade

you can't have a show without a show deal and Nash had a bumper deal on offer which many who visited the stand took advantage of

Show Deal.....

How's this for a story?.....

Twenty years ago in 1998 at one of the '' Go Fishing '' shows at the NEC in Birmingham, a young 12 year old lad by the name of Luke Bowns came up for a picture and a signature

in the pictures below you can clearly see him how he was back then and how he looks today aged 32

he has become a successful carp angler and he is also part of the Nash stable of anglers

Tim Paisley has been a big inspiration in Julian's angling career for many years now and this weekend was the perfect opportunity to catch up

Tim is on the verge of releasing yet another new book, perfect timing Tim with Christmas just around the corner

Finally and this happens at all the shows that Julian attends, he tries to catch up with as many people as possible

ASK JULES...QUESTION FROM DAVE SHAW

7/9/2018

Introduction...

Hi Julian,
I first read your articles around 1987? in Carpworld which were excellent and I have been a fan of yours ever since

Question...Dave Shaw

I have just got back into carp fishing after a break of 16 years, and I'm trying to learn everything again and get to grips with the latest rigs, baits, terminal tackle etc

since my return I have been catching the odd carp but blanking more often which I find frustrating, I'm not targeting difficult waters but a lot of other anglers who are present when I am seem to be catching more frequently than me

what are the basics that I need to introduce to my approach and angling?

Answer...Julian Cundiff

First of all welcome back Dave, secondly it's easy to make the mistake of thinking you are doing what the succesful anglers are doing and it's just luck

almost certainly it is not, we can all get to a certain level of competence but the last bit is the hard bit

without making a nuisance of yourself watch what the ones that are catching are doing, really doing!

I bet it's a bit different to you, it's not rocket science, once you are on the water it's simple you need to be in a swim which carp will feed when you are there

you must avoid scaring them, they need to want to pick up the hookbait, it needs to sit properly and to be able to be taken in

the hook also needs to be pin sharp, those are my initial ideas

I wish you all the best in your angling, take these points on board and I'm confident the results will come

                                                                                                                                                                 Julian Cundiff

ASK JULES... QUESTION FROM PAUL LONSDALE

6/7/2018

Introduction...

Hi Julian,
I hope your well I've just been catching up with some early Carp Cast episodes on Spotify and I heard your interview on episode 10 where you were talking about writing

I've been writing my own book for a while now and I'm starting to think about what to actually do with it when it's finished?

it's a book about my fishing from day one up until the present day, I see this book as a lighthearted introduction to what fishing can bring to life, for those new to the sport or thinking about getting into it?

Question... Paul Lonsdale

Where do you start when writing articles for magazines or blogs?, I've not done any yet but I'd like to give it a go as I love the written word and the process of writing

do you write an article and submit it to the magazines from scratch or do the magazines set you a subject?

Answer... Julian Cundiff

The world has really changed in the last ten years or so and none more so than in publications

recently we have lost Crafty Carper, Carp Talk and Advanced Carp Fishing, Carp Fisher is not going now so that's four publications you are down on

in order to survive magazines need adverts which means some have to include the company's leading or even less leading lights so theirs even less chance for new writers to get into print, as a new unproven writer it's very rare unless you have the right connections?

my advice build a profile on social media so people know who you are, ensure you build a positive profile

I would say give it a minimum of twelve months regularly displaying carp and interesting details about fishing to develop your profile

then contact online publications to see if they are interested?

I wish you the best of luck... keep in touch Julian Cundiff
